I wanted to make a formal recommendation to dramatically improve the sound quality in your videos.
When you signed up for Vyral Marketing we shipped you a HD webcam with accessories.
It did not include an external microphone, by our choice, to keep things simple.
However, as technology has advanced and more likely than not you’re using a computer powerful enough to process HD video with external audio, I now recommend an external microphone.
We recommend the CAD U1 USB Dynamic Recording Microphone. It retails $59 but you can get it on Amazon.com for $22.56 plus shipping.
The difference in your audio quality is astounding.
We are now including this microphone in all new client set up packages instead of the lamp, which has been marginal to improve the lighting situation in your videos.
The best lighting is outdoor light from a window that’s ideally in front of you.
Allison, who just celebrated her 4 year anniversary with us this week, recorded this short video so you can hear the difference a $23 microphone makes.
Watch the external microphone test video example.
It’s a simple USB device you plug into your computer. When you record your video, simply select the new microphone in your settings.
There are two possible challenges we may run into using an external microphone.
1. Adjusting the gain – we’ll want to make sure your audio is set to the right “levels” as not to be too loud or soft. Your Success Coach will check these settings before you record your video. If you play a song on your computer (i.e. iTunes, Spotify, etc) and watch your video at the same time, they should have the same level of loudness.
2. Computer strength – you’ll need a strong computer to process the HD video so your sound matches your mouth when you speak. Your video may “skip frames” to keep up and that’s a problem with getting the sound to match up. You’ll watch your video with your Success Coach before you send it in to make sure the audio matches the video. You’ll want to turn off all background programs to make sure there’s plenty of memory available.
So, as you can see, adding an external microphone may complicate the process, but the sound quality is well worth it if you work with your Success Coach to make the external microphone set up simple.
I also met with Allison this morning and updated our process to optimize your videos for YouTube. I’m going to hold a client training if you’re interested in knowing the new process on July 23rd @ 8am PST. Otherwise this will all be updated and taken care of for you since you’re a client.

Again, I can’t thank you enough for being a client. If there’s anything we can do to help you get better results, please let me know. I want to make sure you’re ahead of the curve at all times.
Have a Happy 4th of July!
