I want to share a great video this week from Vyral Client Jeff Cohn in Omaha, NE. Jeff sells over 500 homes a year and works for the #1 Berkshire office in the country.
Jeff started with us by mastering the basics of making web videos from his HD webcam. However, he recently wanted to step up his game now that he has an amazing new office build out.
He asked his assistant Kevin to put a consumer grade camera on a tripod to record his videos.
This is what the video looks like.
Jeff is positioned to the right of the frame which prevents a giant “play” button on his face. It also makes the image more interesting with the rule of thirds.
When it comes to sound, Jeff wears a lapel microphone recording directly into a pocket audio recorder or his mobile phone.
We then match the MP3 recorded into Jeff’s pocket recorder with the video in editing for great sound.
This is the easiest way to get great sound without expensive audio equipment. It’s also a great alternative if your computer is not powerful enough to handle an external microphone.
Now, the secret to all this is Kevin his assistant. Kevin sets up the video camera, audio recording, and holds Jeff accountable to show up to the planned video shoot.
Kevin is also listening to what Jeff says to make sure he’s on-point. It’s easy to lose track of what you’re saying when you’re recording a video.
I do not recommend a camera set up like this without an assistant. Setting up your own camera and sound is a lot of work. You need someone to do it for you.
