How to Write a Powerful USP (Unique Selling Proposition) For Your Business
Live from the GKIC 2011 Info Marketing Summit in Atlanta, GA (Wednesday Night Diamond Networking Reception)
Before you attend a networking event, or you respond to an email asking what you do, you MUST have a powerful statement that communicates what you do, who you do it for, the benefits of what you do, and why what you do is the best option for your customer. Such a statement is called your USP, or your Unique Selling Proposition. It's why someone should do business with you versus every other available option to them.
Here's our USP:
"Our unique social media marketing system is a proven, guided plan to increase your referral and repeat business by cost-effectively educating and staying in touch with your contacts using personal video – we do all the work."
Here are great USP examples from my marketing coach Dan Kennedy
Take a few minutes and figure out why people REALLY keep paying you. Ask your customers that very question, and usually their first response is your USP. We asked our customers a few months ago litereally why they kept paying us, and their answer? "You do all the work!", they replied. And RELAX - We Do All The Work (tm) became our shorted USP. I suggest you do the same for your business. Why should I hire or do business with you? You have 10 seconds to tell me! _______________(Your USP Here)___________________________
