Mike: I heard about you not long after you got into the business. It's been four or five years, but I never reached out. I received mailers from you. At a Mega Camp we had, several of the other top producers I was talking to told me they were utilizing the program. It was a generic discussion, but I talked to a few agents who really liked what you guys were doing. They felt it was a worthwhile program that was paying dividends, so I finally decided to give you guys a shot.
John: Summarize where you're at in your business. Where do you want to be in the next 5 years or so?
Mike: I've been in business 26 years now and have been pretty productive. We've just recently formed into a group and have a pretty extensive database. We want to start focusing on generating more from that database and I felt like this would be the best way to do that.
John: How many are in that database and how many truly know you?
Mike: We have 1,600 people in our database and I've done business with every one of them.
John: Are you doing anything to market to that database right now?
Mike: We've done a monthly email newsletter for two or three years. It's nothing fancy, it's just to remind them we're here. We're looking to be a little more in depth with our database marketing. I have a really great collection of contacts, I just haven't done enough to market to them. Being in a town this size for as long as I've been, I have a little bit of a brand that I would like to capitalize on.
John: Have you ever thought of doing this yourself?
Mike: If there's one area I'm notably weak in, it's social media. I've really ignored that and missed out on some business opportunities because of it. If I relied on myself to do this, honest to goodness it won't happen. The staff doesn't have enough leverage over me to get me to do what needs to be done. It really needs to be outsourced and properly leveraged by someone who knows what they're doing for it to work. That's why I'm doing it.
John: What results are you expecting?
Mike: In the initial phone call that came in, there was discussion about a 10x return. If I spend $6,600 in a year, I should expect $66,000 back from that. I feel like we're nowhere near where we could be with this program. If we do all the things we should, it will be a great opportunity for us.
