I want to remind you to ALWAYS be asking for email addresses.
Just to put the value of an email address into perspective, I’m running Facebook campaigns for a few clients who are paying $3-5 just for an email address.
(And that’s cheap – depending on the “lead” it can be a lot more than that.)
This is someone who gives up their contact information in exchange for something valuable, and in your case, that’s to receive your 2 educational videos a month.
The best way to add emails to your database is to ask people after every conversation if you can “stay in touch”.
Here’s the script:
“I publish videos on how to get better results, or solve a problem in your life. What’s your best email address? I want to make sure you receive them.”
If you speak to 30 people a week, at least 1/3 of those people will give you their email address.
It’s really like putting $30-50 dollars in your bank account a week.
This scales if you have a team to call people on your behalf – some offices we work with are talking to 1,000 people a week.
That’s 300 emails a week going into the company database – or $900 to $1500 a week of value if you were to buy those emails on Facebook, for example.
So, here is my question for you this week…
Are you doing, and is your team doing, all they can to get email addresses?
If the answer is “no”, here’s what action steps I would put in place next week:
- Put up a sticky note to remind yourself to ask for an email address by your phone
- Get a whiteboard with the total number of emails in your database written on it, and place it front and center in your back office – update it weekly
- Add “emails” to a daily report you receive from your salespeople that includes attempts, contacts, and appointments made
- Connect with people on LinkedIn and Facebook after you talk to them, you can get their email address this way. This is what Dave Friedman did to get a 70x ROI on his database marketing we talk about on last week’s Database Marketing Hangout you can watch here.
- Hold a team meeting to set goals for growing your database and to practice asking for email addresses. Do this at every team meeting going forward.
You can watch it here:
With that, I hope you enjoy the tip for this week. Have a wonderful weekend and thank you for being a Vyral Marketing Client!
If there’s anything you want to talk about, just reply back to this email.
