Friends,
As I wrote you last week – speaking is the most leveraged activity you can do to get in front of people who will refer or hire you fast.
This is PART TWO on how to grow your database by speaking.
I first shared a podcast on how to effectively cold call to set speaking dates at local businesses. Here’s a link to the original podcast with Doug, the appointment setter, who sets speaking dates for Nick.
Today, I encourage you to listen to my podcast with Nick Fletcher, the field sales trainer that arrives at these businesses, gives a free 1-hour presentation and sells tickets at the end for $200-$300 to an event.
Here’s the link to the podcast transcript. >
Nick will give you powerful tips on how to open your presentation, deliver your value and then close properly for the sale – or to secure one-on-one sales appointments – at the end.
Why should you listen to Nick?
He’s done over 1,000 of these free 1-hour office presentations to sell tickets all over the country for various top-level national sales trainers.
You can do this on a smaller scale…
Simply make a few calls to set speaking events for yourself in your own backyard.
(Or near your own backyard. Most speakers follow the 50 mile rule – which means you only speak 50 miles or more away from where you live simply because you’re never a celebrity in your hometown.)
And believe me, everyone is searching for a speaker, especially when you are free – you’ll be welcomed with open arms. (This way event planners or sales managers don’t have to prepare and speak at their own meetings!)|
The EASIEST and FASTEST ways for you to speak are:
1.) Do a free seminar for your local Chamber of Commerce
2.) Offer to speak at a local business sales team meeting (auto, window, real estate, etc.)
3.) Offer to speak at a local trade association event (Home Owners Association, school, etc.)
4.) Offer to speak at a lunch-and-learn session for a business (HR Department, relocation, etc.)
5.) Offer to do a breakout session at someone’s conference
No matter what profession you’re in – and no matter what you sell – you have knowledge that people need for them to live a better life, solve a problem or make more money.
The above 5 venues are your best places to get started.
Now when you speak, here’s a simple tip on how to grow your database quickly:
Sign up for a free text account at CallLoop.com and set it up so when people text their email addresses to your ‘short code’, they get a copy of your slides.
Everyone has a cell phone and the #1 thing people want from your presentation at that very moment is a copy of your slides (or a workbook if you’re not using slides).
Best of all, when people text to opt in, you now have the cell phone numbers of your attendees!
I recommend you follow up with a YouTube video sent via SMS, which if done properly, gets a 95% open rate on average.
So enjoy the podcast with Nick. I enjoy making these for you and I hope you find the audio and corresponding transcripts useful.
And of course, once you get your contacts into your database, I want you to make 2 educational videos per month to stay in touch with all the people you’ve met to boost your referral and repeat business (and improve your lead conversion!).
That’s what we do for you at Vyral Marketing – here’s a 5-min demo.
Talk to you next week.

P.S. I’m down in St. Louis today for an excellent boot camp on building an effective team in your office and then I’m off to Miami for a week of intense sales training. I’m working on a podcast for you on how to build a team that works for you (so you can better follow Vyral Marketing). It’s the whole getting paid for what you ‘own’, versus getting paid for what you ‘do’ debate. It will be good. Look forward to it!
P.P.S If you’d like me to speak in your office, I have a powerful 75-min presentation on how to use social media, email and video marketing to get more sales from your database. Reply back and let’s talk.
